De-Matting Policy
We work in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act and are fully dedicated in providing the best possible dog grooming service whilst insuring your pet's happiness and welfare at all times. At Paws Grooming we groom humanely. Attempts will be made to de-matt a coat if the groomer feels that the animal will not suffer pain. In our studio we have specialist tools and this will always be our first cause of action before considering shaving the affected area of the coat. It is the OWNERS duty of care towards their pet and to maintain their pets coat between professional grooming sessions. If owners fail to attend to their pets coat, then in the interests of the animal, we will shave off the matted areas to prevent unnecessary suffering. We will be more than happy to show you how to care for your dogs coat.
When a dog is presented to us in a severely matted condition, it is our policy to work in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act and we will shave the whole coat using electric clippers with a close blade. To de-matt the coat would cause the animal tremendous stress and discomfort, often leaving the coat very thinned and damaged. We believe that shaving the coat is an act of kindness. Shaving the coat is quicker and gentler on the animal and many animals are traumatised by the unnecessary hours of de-matting, putting them off grooming for life.
Note: De-Matting can be lengthy and tedious for both the dog and the groomer and additional time will have to be charged for.
